At COMPUTEX 2025, we unveiled the all-new HXi SHIFT PSU lineup, alongside a long-awaited update to the RMx SHIFT PSUs. Now that the side-mounted connections are present on the new HXi SHIFT power supplies, the other differences between these two PSUs lines might not be clear. So let's sort that out.
HXi SHIFT | RMx SHIFT (2025) | |
Wattage Variations | 1000W, 1200W, 1500W | 750W, 850W, 1000W |
Cybenetics Certification | Platinum (≥89% & <91% efficiency) | Gold (≥87% & <89% efficiency) |
12V-2x6 Connector | 1 (1000W, 1200W) / 2 (1500W) | 1 (all models) |
iCUE LINK System Hub | Integrated, supporting up to 24 devices | Not available |
Real-time Monitoring | Yes, via iCUE Software (digital PSU) | Not available |
Cable Type | Black Embossed PVC w/ low-profile combs | Black Embossed PVC |
The main differentiator is the HXi SHIFT's integrated iCUE LINK System Hub. This feature simplifies PC building, especially with iCUE LINK compatible components, allowing users to configure their entire cooling system (fans, AIO coolers, RGB lighting) through the PSU, supporting up to 24 devices.
This eliminates the need for a separate hub and additional cabling. Furthermore, as a digital PSU, the HXi SHIFT offers real-time monitoring of power usage, temperature, and other details via the CORSAIR iCUE Software. The RMx SHIFT (2025) does not include these smart features.
The HXi SHIFT series caters to higher-end PC builds with wattage options of 1000W, 1200W, and 1500W. It also boasts a Cybenetics Platinum certification, indicating a higher overall efficiency (≥89% and <91%). The RMx SHIFT (2025) offers a broader range for different budgets, with 750W, 850W, and 1000W variants, and holds a Cybenetics Gold certification (≥87% and <89% efficiency).
In short, this means that the HXi SHIFT PSUs are marginally more efficient than the RMx SHIFT power supplies.
The 1500W variant of the HXi SHIFT uniquely features two native 12V-2x6 connectors, ideal for ultra-high-end PCs with demanding gaming and AI workloads, while the 1000W and 1200W versions have one. All RMx SHIFT (2025) models come with one native 12V-2x6 connector. Both series utilize this connector as part of their ATX 3.1 certification, eliminating the need for adapters for the latest GPUs.
Both the CORSAIR HXi SHIFT and RMx SHIFT (2025) are excellent choices for modern PC builds, offering the innovative side-mounted SHIFT connector design for improved accessibility and cleaner builds.
The HXi SHIFT is positioned as the premium offering, providing higher wattage options, Platinum-level efficiency, and the standout integrated iCUE LINK System Hub for extensive system control and monitoring. It's the ideal choice for enthusiasts building high-end systems who value smart features and streamlined integration of Corsair's iCUE ecosystem.
The RMx SHIFT (2025), while still a high-quality PSU with Gold-rated efficiency, offers a more budget-friendly range of wattages and focuses on delivering the core benefits of the SHIFT design and ATX 3.1 compliance without the advanced digital monitoring and integrated hub features of the HXi series. It is a strong contender for builders who prioritize straightforward, reliable power delivery and easier cable management. It's also got a recessed power switch, which is a nice little quality of life improvement.
